We evaluate your eyes and talk through your visual goals to see whether you are a good candidate for LASIK, PRK or cataract refractive technology.
The pre-operative evaluation
If there is no reason not to go ahead, the evaluation covers counseling on your surgery options, eye dominance testing, a review of your eye history and how stable your prescription is, a medical evaluation of the cornea and eye, and your current prescription.
The surgeon
If you decide to go ahead, we forward your information to the surgeon and a consultation with the surgeon is scheduled. We help you find the right solution and partner with a surgeon to perform your procedure.
Aftercare with us
Our doctors provide your care after surgery: several visits from the day of surgery, with medical evaluation and management of your vision and corneal healing, and a check for anything else you may need, such as reading glasses, sunglasses or an enhancement procedure.
About LASIK
LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is the most commonly performed refractive surgery. It is popular because there is relatively little pain afterward and good vision usually comes by the very next day.
The surgeon creates a thin flap in the cornea, folds it back, and uses an excimer laser to reshape the cornea underneath before laying the flap back in place. A reshaped cornea focuses light onto the retina more clearly. LASIK can help nearsighted and farsighted people, and it can correct astigmatism.
Cataract surgery co-management
Cataract surgery removes the eye's clouded natural lens and replaces it with an artificial intraocular lens. It is generally performed by an ophthalmologist, an eye surgeon, as an outpatient procedure with local anesthesia, and usually causes little or no discomfort.
If Dr. Terry finds a cataract that is disrupting your vision, he refers you to a trusted and respected surgeon, and our practice is there for your care before and after the operation.
Before you decide
Dry eyes may rule out LASIK until they are treated, since they raise the risk of poor healing, so most surgeons treat dry eye first. The same goes for other types of vision correction surgery. Dry eye
