Welcome
Eyes are important indicators of overall health, and comprehensive eye care goes beyond a prescription for glasses or contact lenses.
At Justin Terry O.D. & Associates we take the time to get to know you, your eye care history and your vision needs. Whether you are a new patient or an existing one, you get the expert care, advice, options and follow-up you need.
We handle everything from adult and children's eye exams and hard-to-fit contact lenses to eye emergencies, treatment of eye diseases, and co-management of eye surgery such as LASIK. By staying current with the latest developments in eye care, prescription lenses and contact lens technology, we aim to give you the best vision, advice and fit today and in the years to come.
We serve Southeast Ohio and Ohio University from our office inside the Walmart Vision Center at 929 E State St in Athens.
Dr. Justin Terry, O.D.
Dr. Terry is a National Board Certified optometrist. He graduated from the IAUPR School of Optometry in 2010.
While in optometry school he completed an externship in McLean, Virginia, where he observed numerous eye surgeries, including cataract surgery, LASIK and corneal transplants.
After graduating he joined his father, Dr. Robert Terry, at their private practice in Gallipolis, Ohio. In 2013 he started working part-time at the Athens Walmart Vision Center, and in early 2018 he took the practice over. Shortly after, the family decided to sell the Gallipolis practice and his parents retired. Living here in Athens, it simply made sense.
In his free time Dr. Terry enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, outdoor activities, hunting and staying active.
An independent doctor
Dr. Terry is not employed by Walmart. He is an independent doctor of optometry who chose to locate his practice at Walmart, which is his landlord.
He makes no income from selling glasses or contacts, only from providing comprehensive exams and treating eye disease. Our overhead is lower here and the convenient location keeps us busy seeing patients all day, which is how our fees stay lower.
You still get a thorough exam with advanced diagnostic instruments, from a doctor who completed the same four years of training every optometrist completes and was licensed by the state after extensive testing.
How we care for you
Eye care professionals understand how the eye really works, and the diseases and conditions that affect your vision, many of which have no obvious symptoms. They know how age and risk factors change vision over time, for young and old, and they understand what corrective lenses, glasses and contacts, can do for you.
We take the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, so we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information. It can be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.

Dr. Terry is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Ohio Optometric Association.
